The biggest question in any marriage search is simple: is the person I am talking to really who they say they are? Every rule in Halal Nikah is built around that question. This page covers how the app protects you, what you can do yourself, and where to turn if something goes wrong.
How the app protects you
- Every profile is reviewed by a person. Our team reviews each new profile before it is published. A deleted account that is restored goes back into review, so nobody can delete to escape a report and return clean.
- The blue verification tick. A profile gets the blue tick once its mobile number is confirmed by OTP, its face by a selfie, and the team approves it. Only our team sees the selfie — never another member.
- Your photos, your decision. Photos can be kept hidden. When someone asks to see them, you decide whether to allow it and for how long — 3, 7, 15 or 30 days. Access ends on its own when the time is up. Requests for guardian details and bio-data work the same way.
- Talk without sharing your number. You can talk inside the app without giving out a phone number. When to share it is entirely your call.
- Guardians can take part. A guardian can join from their own separate account to see proposals and give their opinion.
- Blocking closes every door. A blocked member can no longer send you messages, requests, duas or proposals.
- Reports go straight to the team. Our team reviews every report and can warn, ask for verification, remove a photo or close an account. To prevent misuse, reports are limited per day: 3 people for verified members, 1 for others.
- Hide your profile. Need a break? Hide your profile in Settings and you will not appear in search, matches or any list.
What you can do
- Keep your family in the loop. The further a conversation goes, the more your guardian should be involved.
- Stop if money is mentioned. A request for money in the middle of marriage talks — "visa costs", "processing fee", "I am in trouble" — is the clearest sign of fraud. Halal Nikah never asks a member to send money to another member.
- Do not send private photos or documents. If someone asks for your NID, bank details or private photos, report them.
- Meet first in public, with family. Never alone, never somewhere secluded.
- Check photos. If something feels off, search the photo with Google Lens to see whether it appears elsewhere under another name.
- Do not be rushed. "Decide today" pressure is a warning sign.

- Write to us — [email protected]. Urgent safety matters are handled first.
- In an emergency — national emergency service 999. National helpline for violence against women and children 109. Women facing online harassment can also contact Bangladesh Police's "Police Cyber Support for Women".
